The Role
This role is ideal for someone with proven industry experience who is confident managing core commercial functions across multiple projects while contributing to the wider success of the team. You will play a key role in cost control, contract administration, and financial reporting across marine and civil engineering works, supporting project delivery from procurement through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for projects
- Take ownership of day-to-day commercial management on assigned projects
- Prepare interim valuations, applications for payment, and variation assessments
- Monitor project costs, identify variances, and implement cost control measures
- Manage subcontractor procurement, including tendering, evaluation, and negotiation
- Administer subcontractor accounts, including valuations and final accounts
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations (NEC, JCT, or similar)
- Produce accurate cost reports and cash flow forecasts
- Work closely with project managers and engineers
- Contribute to risk management and value engineering initiatives
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, infrastructure, or marine projects
- Strong working knowledge of NEC or JCT contracts
- Excellent commercial awareness and financial management skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cost reporting tools
- Effective communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
